2025 will stand as the largest-ever season in League Two's 30-year history, featuring more clubs and more matches than in any other year.
For League Two fans, that means more matches than ever with playoff spots, divisional titles and rivalry bragging rights on the line. For the league's 30th anniversary, we've identified 30 matches you should tune into in 2025 - for these first 15, we take a look at early-to-mid season matches that will set the stage for the rest of the summer.
Lane United FC vs. Snohomish United
May 15 – 7 p.m. PT – Civic Park, Eugene, OR
This early-season match will kick off Lane United FC’s occupation of Civic Park, the new 3,500-seat stadium that will serve as the club’s home for at least the next two seasons. It promises to be one of the most attractive venues in the league, with a raucous crowd expected to match.
On the other side, Snohomish United is a fresh face to League Two, and one that’ll be looking to make their mark on the Northwest Division as soon as possible. Can they spoil Lane United’s Civic Park debut?
Flint City Bucks vs. Oakland County FC
May 21 – 11 a.m. ET – Atwood Stadium, Flint, MI
Flint City Bucks and Oakland County FC have been engaged in an entertaining rivalry over the last two seasons, even if the Bucks eventually ran away with the division in both cases.
The last time these two teams met, Flint City’s Peirre Lurot saved a critical point in the divisional race with a stoppage time equalizer after trailing Oakland County for 80 minutes. In 2023, both teams had a player sent off in the second half before an 80th-minute winner from Hugo Bacharach. The result kept Oakland County in third place in the division.
This season, the frequent Michigan Milk Cup foes will square off early in the season with a chance to write another chapter in this thrilling rivalry.
Long Island Rough Riders vs. Manhattan SC
May 21 – 7 p.m. ET – Mitchel Athletic Complex, Uniondale, NY
Every season provides an instant classic in this Metropolitan Division rivalry.
While Manhattan hasn’t been able to get a win over the Rough Riders since 2022, every match guarantees fireworks in one way or another. Since 2023, three players have been sent off in four matches, three goals have been scored after the 80th minute, and the match has served as a critical litmus test for both clubs as they compete for the Metro division.
Little Rock Rangers vs. McKinney Chupacabras
May 21 – 7 p.m. CT – War Memorial Stadium, Little Rock, AR
Last season, Little Rock Rangers won the Mid South Division by ten points. They went unbeaten in the division and faced little resistance until their exit from the playoffs against Corpus Christi FC. Enter Denton Diablos, Red River FC and McKinney Chupacabras FC, three expansion sides that are sure to provide a challenge to the Rangers. This match is Little Rock’s home opener, and the first time they’ll welcome one of those challengers to War Memorial Stadium.
Will it be business as usual, or will Little Rock be under early pressure?
Ballard FC vs. Bigfoot FC
May 23 – 7 p.m. PT – Interbay Stadium, Seattle, WA
Last season, due to renovations happening at Ballard’s beloved Interbay Stadium, they relocated to the historic Memorial Stadium. Those renovations are now complete, and the 2023 Champions’ home is back again. They’ll be welcoming Bigfoot FC, one of the most anticipated expansion sides for 2025.
The Maple Valley team will be eager to make their mark in a competitive Northwest Division. What better way than to spoil a former champion’s homecoming?
Asheville City SC vs. Apotheos FC
May 24 – 7:30 p.m. ET – Greenwood Field at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC
One of the most dominant clubs in League Two last year, it’s hard to overstate the offseason hardship faced by the Asheville community. The effects of Hurricane Helene are still being felt today, and Asheville City SC’s resilience reflects that of the community. This match against expansion side Apotheos FC is Asheville’s home opener for the season, as they embark on another journey to proudly represent their home and the people in it.
Fort Lauderdale United vs. FC Miami City
May 28 – 7 p.m. ET – Beyond Bancard Field, Davie, FL
FC Miami City is making their return to League Two, after finishing third in the South Florida Division in 2023.
They’re returning to a new-look Southern Conference and will be taking an early-season trip to one of the most attractive venues in the league. Beyond Bancard Field is the home of Fort Lauderdale United’s USL Super League team, and the 4,500-seat stadium promises to provide an exciting atmosphere for the club’s debut League Two season.
Denton Diablos vs. Hattiesburg FC
May 29 – 7:30 p.m. CT – Pioneer Soccer Park at Texas Woman’s University, Denton, TX
Denton is buzzing ahead of the 2025 League Two season. The club is ambitious, passionate, and quickly becoming a core piece of their community in Texas.
In this match, they square off against Hattiesburg FC, a recent expansion team that will be trying to continue their growth in an increasingly competitive Mid-South Division. To do that, they’ll have to stave off the three newcomers to the scene, starting with Denton.
Vermont Green FC vs. Seacoast United Phantoms
May 31 – 6 p.m. ET – Virtue Field at Archie Post Athletic Complex, Burlington, VT
Circle this match in red. Check again that you’ve done it. Now circle it about ten more times.
This fixture is one of the most electric of the season and lived up to the hype last year. An early lead for the hosts was wiped away by Taig Healy and Marco dos Santos, who set the stage on Instagram for the next time these teams met in Burlington.
Few divisions were more hotly contested than last year’s Northeast, and the Phantoms would go on to be the eventual champions behind Taig Healy’s brilliance. Now, Vermont opens its doors again to a team they have beaten only once in seven tries. Can they get over the hump, or will the visitors from New Hampshire continue to dominate the division?
Reading United AC vs. Ocean City Nor’Easters
June 6 – 7 p.m. ET – Alvernia University Turf Field, Reading, PA
League Two’s oldest recurring rivalry is back again, and these two clubs don’t like each other any more than they did the last time they faced each other. In their clash last July, Reading got the better of the Beach House hosts for the first time since 2019, ending a nine-match winless streak that included five losses and four draws.
The Nor’Easters walked away with the division title, though, and an individual award for defender Josh Jones, who is now at Louisville City FC. Is Reading United prepared to bring the fight back to Ocean City, or will it be another year of orange and blue dominance?
Sarasota Paradise vs. Miami AC
June 7 – 7:30 p.m. ET – Premier Sports Campus, Bradenton, FL
Last year, Miami AC were entering the last two weeks of the regular season in control of the South Florida Division, sweating out a late season surge from Sarasota Paradise. Then, on July 9, Paradise scored four unanswered goals against Miami to put themselves in pole position for the divisional title, one of the most emphatic results of the 2024 season.
In 2025, the division has a chance to play out similarly – if both teams are of similar quality again, this match could determine the fate of South Florida and a critical playoff spot.
Annapolis Blues FC vs. Lionsbridge FC
June 7 – 7:30 p.m. ET – Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis, MD
This one is sure to be one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2025 season. The Blues have already drawn multiple crowds of over 8,000 and a crowd of over 11,000 – they’re sure to come out in force for this high-level matchup.
Lionsbridge has been the dominant force in the Chesapeake Division for three seasons now, winning the divisional title in 2022, 2023 and 2024, and advancing to the League Two Final in 2023. Will Annapolis alter the hierarchy of the division behind a devoted fan base, or will the ‘Bridge stand firm and maintain control? The two teams will face off again in July, when the fate of the division may hang in the balance.
Corpus Christi FC vs. AHFC Royals
June 7 – 7 p.m. CT – Cabaniss Soccer Field, Corpus Christi, TX
In 2024, these two teams were separated by a single point in the divisional table. They combined for only a single loss all season, and played a thrilling ten-goal draw the last time they met. This matchup is ready for more drama in 2025, as the clubs continue to elevate their expectations both on and off the pitch. It could decide the fate of the entire Lone Star Division, and much like the 5-5 draw last June, this could set the tone for the run-in.
Santafe Wanderers vs. Sunflower State FC
June 11 – 7 p.m. CT – TBD
The first all-expansion showdown on this list, these two Kansas City-area clubs are within a stone’s throw of each other and expect fireworks in 2025.
The two clubs have also taken very different paths to get here. The Wanderers are celebrating 30 years of their club’s history, tracing their decades back to being a youth club that promotes physical health and growth in Kansas City.
Sunflower State, on the other hand, is a relatively young club that has spent their entire history competing in pre-professional leagues. As part of those, they’ve already played competitive matches against current League Two club Little Rock Rangers and have recently become more competitive ahead of their transition to League Two.
This local derby is sure to provide plenty of excitement for the new Great Plains division.
San Francisco Glens SC vs. San Francisco City FC
June 14 – 5 p.m. PT – Treasure Island Stadium, San Francisco, CA
This match will be only the third time the Glens’ Treasure Island Stadium, which broke ground in 2022, will be used for USL League Two competition. The stadiums of the two clubs are now only six miles from each other as the crow flies, one of the closest rivalries in all of League Two. It may have also just been the most attractive kit matchup in all of 2024.
SF City FC got the season sweep against the Glens in 2024, but the Glens did the same to City in 2023. Since 2019, City leads the derby series with four wins to three. The two sides have never drawn, so we’re sure to be in for fireworks on Treasure Island.
